What do you do?
Raising Readers in Wyoming supplies books for health care providers to give out to children at well child health care visits and immunizations. We also give the doctors information about literacy and encourage them to pass it along to parents. When we have VISTA’s in counties, we may also do fundraisers and literacy events in those communities (see volunteers page for more details on what a VISTA is) .
Are you a non-profit organization?
Yes, Raising Readers in Wyoming is a non-profit organization. We received our tax-exempt status from the IRS in 2005. Prior to that designation the Wyoming Community Foundation allowed us to use their tax exempt status.
Where are you located?
Raising Readers in Wyoming has participating doctors in all 23 Wyoming Counties. Our main office is located in Sheridan, with several satellite VISTA offices around the state. We also have Board members in Natrona, Sheridan, Campbell, Laramie, Converse and Platte Counties.
What do donations go towards?
Donations we receive go towards purchasing books for children as well as administrative costs involved with coordinating our program.
